Nina Patel MPH, PA-C is a physician assistant who specializes in providing care for oncology patients. She began her career as a physician assistant at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center with the Stem Cell Transplant & Cellular Therapy group in 2016 caring for patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing autologous, allogeneic stem cell transplant, and targeted cellular therapies. She has expertise in all aspects of their care including pre-transplant education and counseling, stem cell infusion, conditioning chemotherapy, and the management of post-transplant complications including toxicity from chemotherapy, graft versus host disease, and infections.
In March 2020 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nina joined the Infectious Diseases team at MD Anderson. In this role she cared for immunocompromised patients with solid tumor and hematologic malignancies who developed infectious diseases such as meningitis, encephalitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, endocarditis, cellulitis, abscess, colitis, catheter-associated urinary tract infections, Hepatitis, HIV, COVID-19 and many more.
Prior to working at MD Anderson, Nina completed a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2015 and a Master of Public Health with a focus in Epidemiology at the University of Texas School of Public Health in Houston in 2012. She graduated from Trinity University in 2010 with a B.S in Biology.
Nina grew up in Austin, Texas and is happy to be back working with this admirable and resilient patient population. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, golfing, and traveling.
